The path that shaped how I work
25 years building at the intersection of technology, people, and change.
I did not arrive at AI strategy in a straight line. But every part of the journey shaped how I think about change, systems, and what it actually takes to make technology useful.
Starting in the engine room of tech
The engine room
I started at Ingram Micro, one of the largest technology distributors in Asia Pacific. Then into enterprise sales with HP, IBM, Cisco, Microsoft, and SAP. What that gave me is a deep understanding of what it actually takes to get technology to work inside a real business. Not just the software. The people, the processes, the resistance, and the moments where it finally clicks.
Learning through community and experimentation
Where it opened up
From 2010 I started speaking, convening, and building. Vivid Ideas, Open Society NZ, TED@Sydney, Australian universities. Speaking on social innovation and emerging technology -- known for translating complexity into something accessible and energising. I co-founded Social Innovation Sydney and served on the board of Vibewire. Across this period I designed and delivered innovation programs, events, and education with MPs, NSW and Federal Government, City of Sydney, UTS, UNSW and UoW, Stone and Chalk, Fishburners, and Vibewire.
Putting it into practice
Sydney Startup Week
63 events, 39 venues, 8,000 attendees. The world largest inaugural startup week, built from nothing. It taught me how ecosystems actually form and what it takes to hold space for something genuinely new.
Applying it
Consulting and COVID
Five years advising businesses on the foundations underneath growth -- workflows, operations, digital infrastructure, automation. Then COVID hit. Overnight, businesses had to rebuild fast. I worked with organisations through that period in real time. That experience is directly connected to what I do now with AI. The tools are different. The challenge is the same.
Coming to Byron. Building what comes next.
What comes next
I founded The Remix to create spaces where people could make sense of AI together -- without the hype, without the overwhelm. I founded The Signal Studio to work directly with businesses ready to build. This is the work I am here to do.
Byron
I left Sydney and came to Byron to unhook from a deeper pattern. I rebuilt in a way that is healthy, grounded, and honest. So when I come to you now it is not just with expertise. It is with lived experience and clarity.
